2020 Kites Over Lake Michigan

The 15th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan will be held not at our venue the past 14 years, Neshotah Beach, but at the Two Rivers High School. This is due to the high lake level that has left us with very little beach. We were fortunate, and very grateful, that the Two Rivers School Board allowed us to continue with the event at the high school. There is a vast expanse of flying and viewing areas behind the school which is perfect for this. We are very sensitive to this strange year of the pandemic, and are mindful of the health and safety of everyone who attends this festival, which has grown to be one of the largest in the Midwest. We will follow the recommended safety guidelines of the health authorities, and encourage social distancing for everyone there. If you are sick, please stay home. If you are not comfortable in a festival setting yet, you can watch the festivities in the safety of your car.

Those who come will be treated to some amazing displays of beautiful giant show kites, precision stunt teams performing mesmerizing aerial ballet with their dual and quad line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays and activities for kids and adults both days.

There will be a reversal of role this year, with the high school as the festival ground and Walsh Field (on 22nd Street just before the turn into Neshotah Beach) as the overflow parking. A shuttle bus service will run from Walsh Field to the high school for both days, from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm. Please note that the bus will be limited to 23 people per trip to allow for social distancing, more if family members living together are present. All those using the shuttle will have to be masked.

Pets are Not Allowed anywhere on school property. Please respect this policy and DO NOT bring your pets to this event.

Date: Sept. 5th and 6th, 2020

Venue: Two Rivers High School

               4519 Lincoln Ave., Two Rivers

Time: 11.00 am to 4.00 pm

Free kite making for kids will be Sunday 9/6/20 at 9.00 am.

Due to the change of venue this year, we will not be able to do any release of Sky Lanterns.

Great News on the Fireworks Show!

We were able to secure the necessary approvals for fireworks and will have one planned on 9/5 at 8.00 pm. Fireworks will be shot off behind the Coast Guard Station, and this will allow people to spread out over a wide area and still have optimum viewing from various places along the waterfront.

Special Notes

►Please note that per State statute, there will be NO ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO allowed on school grounds. It will be strictly enforced.

►Please note that there is no set schedule for both days, except the kids kite making on Sunday. We operate on "kite time" because everything is dependent on the wind condition. Activities will go on regardless of wind conditions.
